The early and accurate detection of superoxide dismutase1 (SOD1)and other biomarkers is crucial for the diagnosis and monitoring ofneurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This study reports the development of a low-cost paper-based electrochemicalsensor for the detection of serotonin (5-HT) and an immunosensor forthe detection of SOD1, the potential biomarkers associated with thesediseases. The gene discussed is SOD1; the disease is glycogen storage disease VI.
