Although genomic data did not reveal the presenceof the papG operon, these genes are frequently found in strains isolatedfrom patients with clinical pyelonephritis. This genomic profile is consistent with the results of the phylogeneticanalyses, which placed the isolates at a distance from the globallydisseminated ST69 lineage, a high-risk clone well-known for harboringsuch virulence determinants within mobile genetic elements. The gene discussed is PAPOLG; the disease is pyelonephritis.
