In patients with type-2 high asthma, the type-2 immune response is excessively activated, and T helper type-2 (Th2) cells and group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) produce large amounts of the type-2 cytokines like interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, IL-9, and IL-13, which in turn induce asthmatic features (9, 10). The gene discussed is IL4; the disease is asthma.
