CASP1 and asthma: MCC950, a highly selective NLRP3 inhibitor, and Ac-YVAD-cmk, a specific caspase-1 inhibitor, were experimented on murine models of neutrophilic (non-allergic) asthma induced by OVA combined with complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) and they significantly attenuated airway hyperresponsiveness, inflammation and reversed helper type 17, regulatory T cell imbalance in asthmatic mice suggesting a potential treatment to ameliorate airway inflammation [26].
