Hv1 has been implicated in many biological processes, including white blood cell immune responses [8, 9, 14, 65], sperm capacitation [9, 14, 66], cancer cell proliferation [55, 67], tissue damage after ischemic stroke and spinal cord injury [68, 69], insulin secretion [70] and pain development [71, 72]. This evidence concerns the gene HVCN1 and ischemic stroke.
