Although ACBP/DBI is upregulated at the transcriptional level in multiple different human cancer types (Fig. 1A), this ACBP/DBI mRNA expression only correlates with poor overall survival in a selected fraction of cancer types, including HCC, several kidney cancer subtypes, and two rather rare tumor entities, namely, adrenocortical carcinoma, low grade glioma and mesothelioma) (Fig. 1B). This evidence concerns the gene DBI and hepatocellular carcinoma.
