APMs harboring pathogenicsomatic mutations can be detected in morphologically normal adrenal glands fromindividuals with normal blood pressure (24-26),and accumulate with age (26-28).These findings suggest that dysregulated expression of CYP11B2 is common, precedes the onset of overt PA, may characterize the subclinical phases of thedisease, and could explain a large proportion of agerelated hypertension. This evidence concerns the gene CYP11B2 and hypertensive disorder.
