SST and neoplasm: Jiang et al. engineered a multiphase core–shellcoacervate (CSC) system through the assembly of dsDNA and somatostatin(SST), a 14-amino acid cyclic peptide, which conferred tumor-targetingcapability via binding to somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) on tumorcell surfaces. The CSC facilitated theincorporation of the G4 quadruplex-hemin complex, which then recruitedthe photosensitizer (PS) tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TCPP),resulting in the formation of a CSC-G4/hemin-TCPP (CSC-GHT) for enhancedphotodynamic therapy (PDT).
