Recent studies have used gene expression profiling to discover ferroptosis‐related genes (FRGs) that could be diagnostic indicators for MDD, such as, in vitro investigations demonstrated that ROS buildup and decreased expression of SLC7A11 and GPX4 were identified in the CORT‐induced depression‐like cell model, indicating that ferroptosis was implicated in neuronal damage [7]. This evidence concerns the gene GPX4 and major depressive disorder.
