Subsequent investigations revealed that β-catenin activation is associated with a poor outcome in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC)2,3 and that more than 50% of a clinically poor-outcome ACC group had CTNNB1 (β-catenin gene) or TP53 mutations as well as aberrant β-catenin or p53 immunostaining4. This evidence concerns the gene CTNNB1 and adrenal cortex carcinoma.
