Niemann–Pick type C (NPC) is an LSD caused by mutations in the NPC1 (NPC type C1, OMIM # 257220) or NPC2 (NPC type C2, OMIM # 607625) genes, leading to defective cholesterol and lipid transport out of lysosomes (Lee and Hong, 2023). The gene discussed is NPC1; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
