If we take into account that the HIV-1 isolates used in this study were isolated from the blood of patients in the late stages of HIV infection (stages 3 and 4, WHO), then one of the factors that may explain the difference in TLRs expression in the donor’s PBMCs infected with different variants of HIV-1 sub-subtype A6 (v1.A6 and v2.A6) may be the phenomenon of nef regulatory gene splicing. The gene discussed is S100B; the disease is HIV infectious disease.
