Compared to the control group (CRC patients who received only dietary recommendations), after 8 weeks the intervention group showed a significant increase in body weight (p < 0.001), lean mass (p = 0.001), fat mass (p = 0.002), systemic inflammation (p < 0.001) and muscle strength (p < 0.001), as well as significant reductions in serum levels of TNF-α (p < 0.001), IL-6 (p < 0.001) and C-reactive protein (p = 0.01) levels, and improvements in overall health and physical function scores (p = 0.02 and p < 0.001, respectively) [14].
