To minimize doxorubicin distribution to the heart as a precautionary measure, doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles based on lactosylated bovine serum albumin (BSA-Lac) were designed to target human liver cancer cells (HepG2) via receptor-mediated endocytosis through the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR), which is almost exclusively expressed and highly abundant in liver cells. This evidence concerns the gene LCT and liver cancer.
