MCU and Alzheimer disease: In our previous study [18], we reported that female astrocytes from 3×Tg-AD mice exhibited reduced subcellular Ca2+ transit, regulated by CB1 receptors, alongside a reduction in the expression of calcium-handling proteins, including the mitochondrial calcium uniporter (Mcu) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor type 1 (Itpr1).
