The putative transcriptional inactivation of the SLFN11 gene at the RNA and protein levels was assessed in patients with ovarian and non-small cell lung cancer, and it was reported to have found a poor response to cancer treatments, cisplatin and carboplatin, suggesting a mechanistic pathway that inactivates SLFN11 expression when it is hypermethylated. The gene discussed is SLFN11; the disease is cancer.
