Among patients without comorbidities (n = 28, 22.0% of cohort), elevated biomarkers were still prevalent in APE cases: NT-proBNP > 300 pg/mL in 64.3% (vs. 28.6% in non-APE, p = 0.04), IL-6 > 50 pg/mL in 50.0% (vs. 21.4%, p = 0.06), and troponin I > 0.04 ng/mL in 42.9% (vs. 14.3%, p = 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and apparent mineralocorticoid excess.
