Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to optimize biomarker thresholds for predicting APE and mortality, with area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.82 for NT-proBNP, 0.78 for troponin I, and 0.75 for IL-6 (95% CIs 0.74–0.90, 0.69–0.87, 0.66–0.84, respectively), demonstrating good discriminatory ability. Here, IL6 is linked to apparent mineralocorticoid excess.
