At the molecular level, it was demonstrated that bromocriptine, a dopamine agonist used in PD treatment, counteracts diabetogenic effects and inhibits the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (p-STAT3)/suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) pathway by reducing its two activators, namely interleukin 6 (IL-6) and leptin [36]. This evidence concerns the gene JAK2 and Parkinson disease.
