Several other SNPs in SLC14A2 gene were reported to be associated with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [31], neurofibromatosis [32], follicular lymphoma [33], breast cancer [34] and bladder cancer [35], etc. This variant may influence kidney function and urine concentration, which subsequently become a risk factor of bladder cancer. The gene discussed is SLC14A2; the disease is esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
