A retrospective study involving 135 Chinese consecutive patients (94 men and 41 women) hospitalized for CD between May and December 2020, revealed a significant correlation between serum Se concentration and multiple inflammatory parameters, including CRP, the Crohn’s disease activity index (CDAI,) erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Harvey-Bradshaw index (HBI), platelet count, simple endoscopic score for Crohn’s disease (SES-CD), the latter being a reliable biomarker of CD severity [154]. Here, CRP is linked to Crohn disease.
