INS and colonic neoplasm: Poi is considered a good source of resistant starch (starches resistant to digestion and fermented by the gut microbiome), which can provide potential health benefits, including improved gut health and blood sugar regulation, lowering cholesterol, reducing gallstone formation, increasing mineral absorption, as well as colon cancer prevention via an improvement in insulin sensitivity and the provision of energy for colonic epithelial cells due to their prebiotic effect [20,62,63,64].
