Both CNTNI and ITGA8 genes were reported to have essential roles in mediating cell–cell and cell-extracellular matrix adhesion [49,52,53,54,55] and deregulation of both ITGA8 and CNTN1 has been suggested to play a crucial role in the EMT transition and metastasis of cancer cells by altering the expression of EMT-associated markers, such as Snail, E-cadherin, and N-cadherin [56,57,58]. This evidence concerns the gene SNAI1 and cancer.
