In this 40-year-old patient, in whom surgery left a residual tumour and octreotide failed to control her disease, switching to pasireotide LAR successfully normalised her IGF-1 levels and resolved all active symptoms of acromegaly, with an added benefit of reduction in the size of the residual pituitary tumour, with only minor and transient side effects during the first 2 days of treatment. This evidence concerns the gene IGF1 and acromegaly.
