Subcluster 2 expressed high levels of white matter associated genes (NRP1, MERTK, and NCKAP5) (Figure 5d) while subcluster 3 displayed a disease‐associated signature (STARD13, MITF, GPNMB, and DPYD) previously observed in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) (Farzan et al. 2025; Guvenek et al. 2024; Pettas et al. 2022; Srinivasan et al. 2020; van den Bosch et al. 2024). This evidence concerns the gene MERTK and multiple sclerosis.
