CCR5 and infection: As shown in Fig. 3, microRNAs 25 and 93 were increased in the GFP+ sorted population of differentiated THP1-CD4-CCR5 cells following infection of either HIV-1 NL4.3-ADA, HIV-2 (ROD or AB7312A strains), or SIVmac239, while the levels of MARCH1 mRNA were reduced to the same extent in these cells as in primary macrophages, thus validating this cellular model (Fig. 3).
