A MetaCore Analysis comparing gene expression in Hep3B-Fusion to Hep3B-Cas9 control cells revealed the upregulation of multiple pathways associated with cell stemness, such as ‘Development_WNT/Beta-catenin signaling in embryogenesis’ [21] and ‘Transcription of HIF-1 targets’ [22] (Figure 2A), as well as repression of pathways responsible for cellular differentiation (Figure 2B) supporting a causative link between C19MC cluster-wide overexpression and a shift towards a cancer stem cell (CSC)-like transcriptional profile.
