VCAM1 and neoplasm: As expected, the HBEC-5i cells expressed much higher levels of VCAM1 (vascular cell adhesion molecule, or CD106) - an adhesion molecule involved in the reorganization of endothelial tight junctions and mediation of immune cell infiltration from the bloodstream (H. Zhang et al., 2024), and CDH2 (N-Cadherin or CD325) - a molecule that mediates cell-cell adhesion contributing to the stabilization of adherens junctions and integrity of the vascular barrier, as well as to angiogenesis and tumor progression (Kruse et al., 2019; Yu et al., 2019).
