Quantitative proteomic profiling of colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines, sorted for high versus low aldehyde dehydrogenase activity, demonstrated that increased expression of aldehyde dehydrogenases is associated with decreased expression of several proteins involved in the mitochondrial electron transport chain as well as decreased expression of the NCSTN subunit of the gamma-secretase complex [44]. The gene discussed is NCSTN; the disease is colorectal adenocarcinoma.
