Treatment of Jurkat-CCR5 cells with A01 (Fig 3A) or exposure of the TMEM16F KO cells to HIV-1 (5 ng p24) resulted in a significant reduction in HIV-1 infection as measured by the percentage of cells expressing viral p24 at 72 hours but did not block HSV infection, which was quantified using a reporter virus expressing mCherry linked to the HSV capsid protein, VP26, 4 hours post exposure (Fig 3C). This evidence concerns the gene ANO6 and HIV-1 infection.
