SNCAIP and Parkinson disease: These observations suggest that Sph1 may play an important role in the aggregation process of aSyn, potentially contributing to the formation of pathological inclusions, such as Lewy bodies (LBs) or Lewy neurites (LNs), that are present in the brain of patients affected by Lewy body diseases such as Parkinson’s disease (PD) or Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
