It has been indicated that levels of circulating inflammatory markers, such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and IL-6, are elevated in patients with HF and could worsen cardiac dysfunction.26,27 It has been hypothesized that colchicine could improve oxidative stress, cardiac function, and clinical outcomes of patients with HF through inhibition of the nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich–containing family, pyrin domain–containing-3 inflammasome, which is a multiprotein complex key role in the activation of the innate immune system and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.28 Here, CRP is linked to hydrops fetalis.
