The need to understand the factors mediating the relationship between ACS and neurocognitive impairment has been noted in the literature, yet our current understanding of these variables remains limited, as corroborated by other authors.5,50 In this context, the present study provides additional insight into the role of biochemical markers such as HDL, glucose, BNP and total cholesterol, emotional variables with a focus on depression, and constitutional aspects on neurocognitive functioning. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and depressive symptom measurement.
