AIM2 and bacterial infectious disease: Surprisingly, IRGB10 activity was independent of other interferon-inducible GTPases, such as guanylate-binding proteins (GBPs), whereas during bacterial infection, a specific sequence of GBP recruitment is essential for targeting cytosolic bacteria, licensing IRGB10 recruitment, bacterial lysis, and dsDNA release to activate AIM2 inflammasome (Meunier et al, 2015; Kutsch et al, 2020; Man et al, 2015, 2016).
