Mutations affecting the C-type lectin receptor (CLR) pathway, including those in CLEC7A (encoding Dectin-1) and CARD9, are strongly associated with increased susceptibility to chronic mucocutaneous or vulvovaginal candidiasis as well as fungal meningitis (Lanternier et al, 2015, 2013; Glocker et al, 2009; Ferwerda et al, 2009; Fisher et al, 2017; Geijtenbeek and Gringhuis, 2016; Malamud and Brown, 2024; Dambuza and Brown, 2015; Hatinguais et al, 2023). This evidence concerns the gene CLEC7A and fungal meningitis.
