This suggests that inhibition of the BRD alone is insufficient to hinder the role of TRIM24 in cancer cells, but that other domains, including the PHD, could be involved in regulating cancer cell proliferation.[20, 21] This has previously been observed in the BRD‐containing proteins SMARCA2 and SMARCA4, where inhibition of the BRD has limited cellular effects but degradation of the whole protein, including the ATPase domain, leads to cell death.[22].
