While further studies are needed to directly assess Igfbp2 expression in human MTLE tissue using non‐tumor controls, elevated Igfbp2 levels have been observed in disorders with an increased risk of epilepsy, including Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and gliomas (Zumkeller et al. 1993; Chesik et al. 2006; Hertze et al. 2014). This evidence concerns the gene IGFBP2 and Alzheimer disease.
