The Breast Cancer Gene 1 (BRCA1) and breast cancer gene 2 (BRCA2) genes are among the most important predisposing germline alterations.1,3 The homologous recombination (HR) repair pathway heavily depends on BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes for fixing DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs).4 By repairing DSBs, these genes are essential for preserving genomic stability and controlling the cell cycle. The gene discussed is BRCA2; the disease is breast carcinoma.
