Our study showed that a higher proportion of the MOG-OPN group had abnormal CSF WBC counts (37.5% vs. 4.5%; P = 0.048) and the MOG-OPN group had a higher proportion of participants with previous infections (62.5% vs. 8.0%; P = 0.004), which suggests a more pronounced inflammatory response in vivo. This evidence concerns the gene SPP1 and infection.
