In fact, there are few reports directly showing H2S intracellular release after treatment with SAC: for example, in a cellular model not related to ED, breast cancer cells, SAC displayed antiproliferative effects in a dose and time-dependent manner; moreover, SAC increased expression of enzymes involved in H2S release, in particular 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MPST) [101].
