In multivariable analysis within the PE cohort, NT-proBNP ≥ 600 pg/mL was associated with higher odds of belonging to the cancer subgroup (OR 2.08, 95% CI 1.08–4.01; p = 0.029), and age increased the odds by ~2.5% per year (OR per year 1.03, 95% CI 1.01–1.05; p = 0.016), whereas D-dimer > 5 mg/L (FEU) was inversely associated (OR 0.35, 95% CI 0.19–0.64; p < 0.001).
