Notably, all 19 STAT3-upregulated genes have been associated with colorectal cancer, with 16 of these 19 genes shown to contribute to CRC progression and metastases, including CD244 [13], CXCL9 [14], LYZ2 [15], MMP7 [16], S100A9 [17], TIMP-1 [18], TNFS11 [19], XCL1 [20], AHSG [21], CCL17 [22], CCL2 [23], HMOX1 [24], IL1B [25], LEF1 [26], and USP18 [27].
