Optineurin, a ubiquitin-binding adaptor protein encoded by the OPTN gene, is of interest in neurodegeneration research due to its diverse roles in inflammatory signaling, autophagy, and vesicular/organelle trafficking, and because mutations in OPTN are linked to ALS, FTD, and both primary open-angle and normal-tension glaucoma [11,12,13,14,15]. This evidence concerns the gene OPTN and low tension glaucoma.
