In cancer cell models, treatment with pecan-derived polyphenols has been shown to reduce the expression of NF-κB-regulated genes encoding pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), as well as proteins involved in cell survival and proliferation [40,54].
