In the insulin resistance mice model, the response to EPA and DHA (1%, 2% and 4%) identified a distinct profile, where DHA (4%) stimulated the browning process by up-regulating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), while EPA (4%) showed an anti-obesity effect independent of PPAR-γ on obesity [22]. This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
