This has been a major drive for the high research interest in investigating the99mTc-labeled PSMA radiopharmaceuticals for SPECT imaging of prostate cancer.41, 54, 55, 56In one of the first studies comparing68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT to99mTc-HYNIC-PSMA SPECT/CT, our group in Pretoria, South Africa, reported a high detection rate for99mTc-HYNIC-PSMA SPECT/CT, though with a lower performance than68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT.57One reason for the lower sensitivity of SPECT imaging is its limited sensitivity for small lesions. This evidence concerns the gene FOLH1 and prostate cancer.
