FOXP3 and infection: On the immune side, analyses were restricted to lymphocyte subsets, proliferative responses, and a limited cytokine panel, without in vivo tests of immune competence (e.g., infection or vaccination models) or functional characterization of specific subsets such as the suppressive capacity of FoxP3+ Tregs, antigen-specific proliferation, cytotoxic activity, or effector cytokine production at the single-cell level.
