Subsequently, we investigated whether the cell types previously correlated with delirium (memory CD4 + T cells expressing CXCR3, activated T cells, IgM + unswitched memory B cells, and exhausted B cells) remained independently associated with delirium after adjusting for known confounding factors (age, gender, worst PaO2/FiO2 ratio, SAPSII score at admission, use of corticosteroids, doses of midazolam, doses of propofol, and doses of fentanyl). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is delirium.
