TOM1L2 and metabolic syndrome: Using the persistent MetS status variable, there was a significant difference found between patients who developed MetS within five years after the start of chemotherapy (N = 15) and patients who did not develop MetS (N = 34) for changes in global methylation (LINE-1) (median 1.5% (25th-75th percentile 0.6–2.0) vs. − 0.6% (-2.4 – 0.9), p = 0.034) and TOM1L2 (-4.0% (-5.6 – -2.6) vs. -1.6% (-4.2 – − 0.3), p = 0.022) (Fig. 3C) one year after CBCT.
