As PCBP2 functions as an iron chaperone that delivers iron to FPN1 for exporting (Yanatori et al. 2016, 2020) and iron was involved in regulating cellular senescence and atherosclerosis (Maus et al. 2023; Masaldan et al. 2018; Crescenzi et al. 2023; Luo et al. 2022; Ma et al. 2022), we wondered whether iron could regulate cellular senescence by altering the morphology of PCBP2, therefore, modulating the binding of PCBP2 to the atherosclerosis‐associated fSNP rs1333046.
