Eligible males and females aged 18–45 years were randomised (1:1) to receive 3 monthly doses of either the SUM-101 malaria vaccine (150 μg MSP1 FL derived from the 3D7 Pf strain formulated in 5 μg of adjuvant GLA-SE) or the Verorab rabies vaccine (control) given intramuscularly at days 0, 28 and 56. The gene discussed is ATAD1; the disease is malaria.
