Alternate mouse models of AD that include the APPSwe gene (and other amyloid precursor protein genes) show deficits in FC that emerge around ∼22 weeks and remain throughout the lifespan (Grandjean et al., 2016; Grandjean, Schroeter, He, et al., 2014) or show the AD model having a greater difference from WT at younger ages, with the deficit remaining but becoming less pronounced between ∼65 to 95 weeks (Morrissey et al., 2023); this also includes models other than 3xTg-AD that include MAPT (Mandino et al., 2025). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
